The Raven

Just a short post – realise the last few have been a little War and Peace.

Went to this nice pub in Bath yesterday with the lady. First went to the The Raven a few years back while recovering from a mate’s stag do. We appreciated it then and we appreciated it yesterday.

The Raven does pies. Good pies. I remember (I think) a few years back they were homemade, on Saturday they were Pieminister. Either way they were great – choice of seven different fillings, three different gravies, brilliant. The surroundings are great as well. Ale pub on the ground floor, more room for eating upstairs, but you can mange where you like. Service was fast and friendly. And the selection of local beers was excellent, though for some reason the name of the one I had escapes me (something Gold).

Even at 3.30pm it was still full, which is always a good sign – people eating, people drinking, but all having a good time.

On my annual visit to Bath as a trader at the Christmas Market i always drop into the Raven; great spot to sit and read the papers with a pint.

You’ve been sipping their very own Raven Gold, a damn fine tipple among the many. Said pies were pieminister, a pairing of two majestic West County greats. This pub is brilliant. Go there and then take everyone you know there. The staff are absolutely lovely, the beverages tremendous and ask the landlords about the haunted well in the basement.. spooky..
