Devon farm firm launches organic soup range

Rod and Ben’s is launching two new organic food pots – Vegetable Balti and Three Bean Vegetable Chilli – both a little hot and spicy, and both ideal for eating whilst away from home, hungry and in a hurry.  Full of nutritious organic ingredients, including onions, leeks, carrots, celery and garlic from Rod and Ben’s organic farm in Devon, the new pots have been developed with the help of author and food expert Carole Handslip, and are low in salt, dairy free, wheat free and suitable for vegetarians.

“Our award-winning soup pots are a great hit but we know that sometimes trying to slurp soup on the go can get a bit messy, so we decided to create something equally as nutritious which could promptly fill an empty stomach.  We’ve been very fortunate to have Carole Handslip’s exceptional know-how to perfect our Vegetable Balti and Three Bean Vegetable Chilli recipes; there’s not a lot Carole doesn’t know about food and her input has been inspirational.

“We have combined our own organic vegetables, which we harvest at just the right time to deliver the most intense flavours – with herbs, spices and other carefully selected ingredients.  The recipes are wholesome and have been kept as simple as possible so that each ingredient’s integrity – colour, flavour, texture and nutritional value – is preserved,” explains Rod Hall, a hardened wellie wearer who spends most of his days knee deep in organic soil and fresh vegetables.

Rod and Ben’s new Three Bean Vegetable Chilli rates ‘medium’ on the spice scale, and is packed full of tomatoes, black eyed beans, pinto beans, adzuki beans, onions, carrots, celery, coriander, garlic, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika and Rod and Ben’s own vegetable stock.  The Vegetable Balti is also medium in heat with sweet potatoes, chopped tomato, aubergine, chickpeas, onions, red peppers, coriander, garlic, ginger, cloves, cayenne pepper, turmeric and cumin seeds.

Carole Handslip says:  “I’ve been very impressed with the high quality of the fresh produce Rod grows.  It’s always a pleasure to help with really good products especially when made with such an understanding of today’s need for respect for the environment.”

Rod’s award-winning, organic farm in Devon is run on the knowledge that the best tasting, most nutritious and honest food is picked and eaten in season without endangering the environment.

Rod and Ben’s new Vegetable Balti and Three Bean Vegetable Chilli pots are best served hot and are available from south west Morrison’s stores, independent retailers, delicatessens and farm shops all around the Country and by mail order via  Pots are 300g and have a RRP of £3.
